Building Institutions for Long-Term Legacy

True heritage preservation requires institutions capable of sustaining traditions and serving communities long into the future.

🏛️

Sri Jagannatha Lilakhetra Trust

The Foundation

The parent institution associated with Kankanashikhari's heritage and cultural initiatives. It serves as the primary administrative and custodial body guiding site restoration, public festivals, and community welfare programs.

📖

Bharat Charan Sahoo Medha Bruti

The Sri Jagannatha Lilakhetra Trust annually confers the Bharat Charan Sahoo Medha Bruti scholarship upon the student securing the highest academic marks at the Middle School (ME) examination level in the surrounding rural area.

The scholarship is instituted in revered memory of the Late Bharat Charan Sahoo, who served selflessly as the Headmaster of Nilakantha ME School, Baulabandha, for approximately three decades.

The Generational Cycle

Education → Memory → Merit → Future

By commemorating dedicated teachers and rewarding young talent from rural families, Dr. Sahoo fosters an environment where merit is celebrated and education becomes the ladder for regional empowerment.

Building Community Through Direct Participation

The Trust actively enlists the support of local NCC cadets, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and Student Volunteers from neighboring colleges. These youth receive structured service certificates signed by Dr. Sahoo, validating their contributions to site maintenance, safety coordination, and environmental protection.

High-ranking administrative dignitaries—including the Superintendent of Police (SP), Khurda and the Sub-Collector, Khurda—regularly attend preparatory reviews and festival inaugurations, acknowledging the disciplined role played by the volunteer corps.

🩺 Medical Camps

Regular health checkups and free medicine distribution for rural families around Chilika.
