The Jala Ratha Yatra represents a breathtaking cultural spectacle where the deities of Lord Jagannatha, Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra embark on a holy voyage across Chilika Lake aboard decorated traditional boats.

Since its inaugural voyage in 2017 guided by Dr. Susant Kumar Sahoo, the festival has grown into a landmark regional event requiring coordinated safety measures by the Chilika Development Authority (CDA), Inland Water Transport, Khurda Police, and hundreds of local fishermen boatmen.
The annual festival culminates in the deeply moving Chilka Arati, offering devotional gratitude to the life-giving waters of the lake.
